Behavior Skills Training (BST)

Behavior Skills Training, or BST, is an evidence-based teaching method used to help parents, teachers, and staff learn new skills through four steps: instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback. The trainer first explains the skill, then demonstrates it, has the learner practice it, and provides specific feedback until the skill is mastered. BST is widely used in ABA to train RBTs, support parent training, and teach safety or social skills to learners. Because it relies on practice and feedback rather than just verbal explanation, it leads to lasting behavior change.
